The Foreign Secretary David Miliband joined the EU Presidency in expressing his condemnation of the execution on 11 October of another young Iranian, Behnoud Shojaee. He said:
“Behnoud Shojaee was executed for a crime committed when he was under the age of 18. Iran has once again contravened its international legal obligation not to execute juveniles. Safar Angooti, another young Iranian convicted of a crime committed when he was a juvenile, is scheduled to be executed on 21 October. Concerned Iranians are calling on the Iranian judiciary to stop his execution – I join those calls.”
