Committee of Human Rights Reporters- Amir Khaleghi, born in 1990 was a juvenile when he was convicted of stabbing his friend Ali Malekpour in the chest in a drunken fight three years ago where he eventually turned himself in to police. After having spent 2 1/2 years in Rajeyeh Shahr prison in Karaj, he was finally released on November 1st 2009 where thrity of his relatives greeted him at the gates.
He had previously been sent to the gallows twice to be executed, but the family of the victim decided to grant him a pardon in exchange for 53 million Toman (approx $53,000 USD) in blood money.
