               <\/span> The Canadian Student Initiative achildisachild.com<\/strong> has written the<\/span> F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)<\/span><\/strong> President Joseph S. Blatter<\/span><\/strong> requesting FIFA\u2019s urgent intervention with the few member countries who still execute young offenders.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

               <\/span> A Student Initiative leader, Charlotte Vogt of Munich Germany says, \u201cFIFA is committed to using football as a symbol of hope and integration. <\/span> Young offender executions are inconsistent with FIFA\u2019s humanitarian objectives.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

               <\/span>  <\/span> Currently according to Amnesty International at least 140 young offenders are on death row in Iran\u2019s prisons. <\/span> These death sentences are a direct violation of the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child and the International Conventions on Political and Civil Rights.  <\/span>On May 1, 2009, Iran executed Delara Darabi, a young artist and young offender. <\/span> The execution of other young offenders has been scheduled.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

               <\/span> Vogt said, \u201cFIFA has a commitment to Human Rights and to the young. Yet FIFA member execute young offenders. <\/span> We are requesting the humanitarian assistance of FIFA in bringing an end to this practice.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

               <\/span> Vogt has requested FIFA to remind members of FIFA\u2019s humanitarian values, and to request member countries to abide by United Nations Conventions which protect kids and young offenders from execution.  <\/span>\u201cIt\u2019s time FIFA did something about the despicable practice of young offender executions in some FIFA member countries\u201d said Vogt.<\/span><\/p>\n
