SEYAJ Organization <\/span> for Child<\/span>hood<\/span>  <\/span>Protecting appealed in a <\/span> letter addressed <\/span> to the President \u201c Ali Abdullah Saleh demanding him not to ratify the death sentence on <\/span> (Walid Hussein Haykal) and <\/span> send <\/span> the case file back to <\/span> the court in order to consider  <\/span> the testimonies <\/span> that he had which proved that he was 16-year-old when accused in the murder crime .<\/span><\/p>\n

The letter said that, according to documents provided by the family (Hykal) , the accused was below the legal age as <\/span> his date of birth is documented in his father’s passport <\/span> issued in the Yemeni consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where he was born.<\/span><\/p>\n

The organization also demanded the head of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Attorney General to reconsider the case under the testimonies available in the hands of Hykal family and request Yemeni consulate in Jeddah to verify <\/span> passport copy of <\/span> the father.<\/span><\/p>\n

Walid Hussein Hykal – According to his family claims – was forced under torture to confess that he committed the crime and was tried on the basis of his confession without any further substantial evidence. B<\/span>esides<\/span> that he<\/span> did not had the necessary medical tests to determine his <\/span> age.<\/span> Walid spent eight years from his age in jail, three years of them in juveniles\u2019<\/span> detention center<\/span>    <\/span> where only those under the legal age are detained.<\/span><\/p>\n
