Now I can read

She was only 5 when her 17 year old sister did not come home anymore. Everyone seemed disturbed at home but she could not understand what was happening. When she asked about her sister, she was told that she had attended a university  She often cried until the family decided to occasionally take her to visit her sister.

This went on for 3 years until she again insisted that she wanted to see her sister, so her mom took her to visit. After she returned, her other sister found her crying silently in the corner of her room.

– “Why are you crying?” She asked

- ”I didn’t tell mom , but this time I could read the sign at the entrance of the place where Delara lives, it was written: Prison”. said the 8 year old with tears rolling down her face.

Since then she always stays very close to her other sister who is only one year younger than Delara. Delara’s 19 year old sister studies psychology, but her 8 year old sister no longer wants her to go to university. She is worried that she may not come back home either.

Yesterday Delara was visited by her mother. Delara was crying a lot that she wants to at least be moved to Tehran prison as the conditions where she is being kept is unbearable.

"Delara's voice" صدای دل آرا

I empathize with the scarecrow
I empathize with the scarecrow for being stuck in the field
Her voice is lost behind the clusters of wheat
…and Delara’s voice
ah! how late I realized that I have become a scarecrow ..

"While Free" : by Delara Darabi

Today Delara Darabi was visited. Delara’s right hand is better and healing.

Delara said that she was very thankful to everyone for all the caring efforts on her behalf. This poem is a present from Delara :

While Free
we suppose freedom is an ideal, Unattainable.
and we reach out
for what is already sacrificed under our own feet!
“Freedom”….Never being entrapped is meaningless!
Oh People! Let us rip the chains of our thoughts
and not be captivated by freedom
for …that itself is our “captive” !…

Nazanin's attorney files objection to payment of blood money retribution

In an interview with ISNA (Iranian Student News Agency), Mohammad Mostafei the attorney for Nazanin Fatehi stated that: “According to Islamic (Republic of Iran’s) Penal law 629-B, when a person who is subjected to an attempted rape commits a murder, s/he should not be penalized. Nazanin was arrested in 2005 and the year after she was sentenced to death and after appeal…the sentence was vacated… my client was ordered to pay blood money retribution.”
He added: “If Nazanin was not sentenced to death; first she did not have to spend more than 2 years in prison and secondly she was not required to pay blood money.
Considering that my client was defending her own her niece’s chastity , Nazanin’s other attorney (Shadi Sadr) and I believe that she does not deserve any punishments including paying blood money, therefore I have filed an objection to that part of the verdict within the time allowed,” said Mostafaei.
In January 2007, the 5 appeal judges unanimously agreed that Nazanin Fatehi had acted in self defense, however instead of assuming responsibility for the unjust imprisonment of a 17 year old for 3 years under the emotional torture of a death sentence , they still demanded that Nazanin pays blood money to the family of the murdered rapist.
Effective March 20, 2007 Iran’s judiciary has increased the payment of Blood money.

Victims's daughter: "I am against death penalty" (re: Delara Darabi)

Mina Ahadi, the head of the International Committee Against Executions, contacted the daughter of the victim in the alleged murder involving Delara Darabi and Amir Hossein. In her phone conversation, Mahin’s daughter stated that she does not believe in the death penalty, however, she does believe that those who were implicated in her mother’s death should be put to justice and serve proper jail time.

The news may possibly serve as an important factor in sparing Delara’s life from death as in the Sharia laws of Iran, the views of the victim’s family are considered in decision making.

Stop Child Execution Camopaign has communicated this information to Delara’s attorney and family.

Prison…

I want to give you a different name

Who called you this for the first time?

What was her bird of thoughts seeking?

how far did she soar

                                    that she saw this abyss?

What did she see

                                    that she felt a lack!

Lack of a sense named Freedom….

دلارا دارابىã Delara Darabi

How you can help

Delara Darabi update

Earlier this week After visiting her daughter’s and her emotional state,.  Delara Darabi’s mother came home very disturbed and crying.

Delara’s sister who vistied her today reported her as ” not as good as other times I had seen her” .  Delara had told her sister ” I had only been prentending to you that I am ok, because of my concern for dad’s health”

While all of Delara and her attorney’s requests for prison transfer have been denied, Amir Hossein whom Delara claims to be the guilty of crime had been granted vacations from prison.
